Program Information
- Camp Trillium offers programs for families affected by
childhood cancer
- Camp Trillium started in 1984
- our population includes kids on treatment, off treatment, their
siblings, and bereaved family members
- between our three summer programs we have about 100 paid staff
(full summer) and 150 volunteers (6 or 12 days)
- year-round we have over 200 volunteers
What We Are Looking For
- must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer
- must have lots of energy and enjoy the outdoors (for camp)
- experience with children is preferred
- camp or volunteer experience is an asset
- must process a police check and have a tuberculosis (TB) test current
within one year (Camp Trillium can process the police check free of
charge)
Location
We run programs in communities and hospitals across Ontario and at
our two camp sites.
- Rainbow Lake is 45 minutes southwest of Hamilton, Ontario
(residential site)
- Garratts Island is 1 hour southwest of Kingston,
Ontario (residential site)
Commitment
- attend an in-city group interview session (spring or fall)
- complete Camp Trillium volunteer training (full day)
- read volunteer manual and sign contract
- camp--arrive one day before campers and stay for the entire session
(you must arrange your own transportation)
- community--various time commitments (occasional to year-long)
- be ready to have an AMAZING time!
