Staff InfoOver the past few years our year-round programs have grown so big that we've had to hire contract staff to ensure that we have safe programs. Contract staff need to be returning staff or volunteers. As a contract staff you will get paid for the weekend, but you will need to take on extra duties such as, being a bus monitor, planning a program activity, setting up camp and/or cleaning up after.
Programs have a set number of contract staff positions. If you are interested in applying for a contract position for one of the programs just call the office. New ApplicantsARE YOU LOOKING FOR A ... rewarding! challenging, fun-filled, SUMMER JOB? WELL, CAMP TRILLIUM CAN OFFER ALL THIS, AND MORE! AS A POTENTIAL STAFF MEMBER YOU MAY BE WONDERING... We are looking for anyone over 18 years of age before June 1 who likes kids and the outdoors. Experience with children and/or camping is preferred and a specific skill in a camp setting is an asset (i.e. canoeing, tripping, life guarding, etc.). We travel across the province recruiting staff from universities, colleges, and some high schools. We attend job fairs, set up information booths, and talk to university & college classes. We conduct group-style interviews for up to 10-20 applicants at a time. The interviews take 4-5 hours and consist of an information session, games, a camp video and one-on-one interviews. About the hiring process: The hiring process takes a little longer than other job positions because we conduct interviews across the province. The interviews are completed in about two weeks, after which we check everyone's references and start putting the puzzle together. The process usually takes about a month. The summer contracts start at various times in June and go until the end of August. Contracts include approximately two paid weeks of staff training. You are expected to be on duty for the duration of a session with days off in between sessions. Yes, staff that can commit to the whole summer do get paid including room & board. For specific wages and bonuses for the different positions please call the office. Volunteering InfoWe are always searching for enthusiastic and energetic volunteers who are looking for the experience of a lifetime! Please explore the links below for more information about volunteering at Camp Trillium.
We run programs in communities and hospitals across Ontario and at our two camp sites.
How to ApplyPlease fill out the volunteer application form and send it to Camp Trillium, or apply right here online! We will also need your resume and three names and telephone numbers of references. Two of your references must be work-related and the third can be personal. For more information e-mail volunteer@camptrillium.com. Once you have applied to become a volunteer with Camp Trillium, you may be invited to a group interview session (with approx. 15 people) in the city-centre nearest you (Hamilton, Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa, London, or Sudbury). The interviews are 4-5 hours in length and include an information session, group games, role plays, followed by a one-on-one interview. If you are accepted as a volunteer, you will be invited to a one-day in-city training session that will cover topics such as camp programming, medical and psychosocial aspects of childhood cancer and safety. Volunteers are also required to arrive at camp one day prior to the start of the session for on-site orientation. Ongoing training opportunities are available for community volunteers. All volunteers are required to have a police clearance prior to volunteering. Camp Trillium can process the clearance for you, free of charge (you must show your drivers licence or other proof of identification). We also require that you have a tuberculosis (TB) test done through your family doctor or a walk-in clinic. Not only will you be helping children with cancer and their families to have fun at camp, you will gain a sense of fulfillment and so much more
